Who is Britten Woodworking?

Woodworking is what I do. I have been doing it for over 30 years.

I trained under a German master craftsman and have been building in Connecticut ever since. My work covers cabinetry, entryways, paneling, moldings, corner cupboards, shutters, and storm doors.

Look through the photos. You will see attention to detail, knowledge of methods, and the kind of skill that turns your project ideas into reality.

The Process

No shortcuts. No veneers.

Start a Project

Every commission starts with a site visit. We talk about how the piece will be used, then I draw the elevation by hand. No CAD. No shortcuts. No production shop sending work overseas.

Timber comes from New England sawyers and air-dries in the shop for at least a year before it touches a hand plane. No kiln-rushed lumber.

Joinery is mortise-and-tenon or hand-cut dovetail throughout. The same methods Connecticut craftsmen used in the 1700s, drawn from period originals and executed by hand.
